November 2011 Newsletter

We look forward to November, and the upcoming holiday season. We are planning a lot of baking, arts and crafts and scrap-booking. A trip to the “Woman’s Hall of Fame” in Seneca Falls and a girls and boys night out at a local restaurant and possibly a movie or shopping after is planned. Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I hope you all enjoy the remainder of our fall season. We live in a beautiful part of our country. If you have any concerns or ideas about activities, please feel free to stop in and see me. – Gigi

JULY RECAP

The big event for the month was our luau. With the help of our residents Stephanie decorated the living room with lighted palm trees, tiki’s and mylar fish. Entertainment was provided with an Hawaiian twist. Fun was had by all. The residents also took 2 trips to ice cream shops in the area. The “Chill and Grill’ in Palmyra and Spanky Oliver’s in Lyons. With all of the hot weather we have been having the residents really enjoyed this cool treat. The Terrace also provided popsicles during the hot weather to help keep our residents cool and comfortable.

The garden continues to do well. We have already provided the kitchen with radishes. We do have a few small peppers, tomatoes, and peas. Hopefully soon the kitchen will be provided with an abundance of fresh vegetables.

The Terrace and residents had to say goodbye to our Activities Director “Stephanie”. A small party with cake and a gift was presented to her on Monday, July 25, 2011.

AUGUST NEWS

The residents will be entertained this month by various entertainers. We welcome families to come and enjoy an hour of music.

July 2011 Newsletter

July really brings in the summertime heat and what a better way to cool off than a trip to the ice cream shop.  Starting in July our scenic rides will be changed to trips to local ice cream shops.  We ask that resident’s sign up for this event so that all residents have an equal opportunity to participate.  A sign-up sheet will be available in the activity room.  The trips will begin July 11th.

Reliant Community Bank will be stopping in to give a presentation and to provide consumer awareness to identity theft.  Information will be given on what to be aware of and the personal information that you should never give out to protect your identity from being stolen.

On July 20th we will be trying our luck at the Fingerlakes Casino and Race Track. Hopefully we will have some winners!

Another trip planned for this month is a night at Colburn Park for a Newark Pilots game on July 28th.  The tickets are free of cost and there is an opportunity for (10) residents to attend.  Residents also need to sign up for this event in the activity room.

June 2011 Newsletter

It’s time to get out to the garden! The frost has passed and last year we had such a bounty that we’re going to be at it again!

Several residents have taken an interest in gardening. We will be expanding the garden to include a flower box along with lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, watermelon, cantaloupes, and several other vegetables. All will be used in meals prepared by the kitchen.

We will be honoring all of our residents who are fathers with a gathering on Friday, June 17th at 10:30. The Terrace would like to extend a Happy Fathers Day to all of our Fathers.

The evening before the first day of Summer the Terrace of Newark will be hosting a formal dance. The living room will be decorated and the residents will be getting all dolled up to enjoy music to get us all up and moving.

On June 21st, the first day of summer we will be changing to some summertime outdoor fun activities. So be ready to bring in the summertime fun!

Stephanie brought up the idea to the residents of adding a water fountain to the patio. There is nothing more refreshing and relaxing like the sound of running water. The residents agreed it would be a nice addition.

New Website Developed for The Terrace

We have decided to give our online presence a new fresh and cohesive look. The task has been handed over to redezines, a Central New York based design company.

With the newly launched sites for each location you will find more information on the communities through a updated news page, a photo gallery, floor plans, residency forms as well as a contact form. There will also be a headquarter site which will be home to general information on all The Terraces in Central New York.

“The goal for The Terrace websites was to have a clean look with the ability to navigate easily throughout the pages. Also the ability to have the sites grow as communities grow is a extensive feature,” notes Brian Redfield, owner and designer of redezines.

Take a moment to browse the newly launched site. Please contact us if you have any questions or can’t seem to find what you are looking for.
